Cardiopulmonary
Newman Memorial Hospital provides its patients with several important services related to cardiopulmonary health and screening, including the following:
Electrocardiogram (EKG or ECG)
a test that checks for problems with the electrical activity of your heart. An EKG shows the heart's electrical activity as line tracings on paper.
Echocardiography (Echo)
a test of the action of the heart using ultrasound waves to produce a visual display, used for the diagnosis or monitoring of heart disease.
Cardiac Stress Test (or Cardiac Diagnostic Test)
a test that measures a heart's ability to respond to external stress in a controlled clinical environment. The stress response is induced by exercise or by drug stimulation.
Holter Monitoring
a battery-operated portable device that measures and tape records your heart’s activity continuously for 24 to 48 hours or longer depending on the type of monitoring used.
CT Calcium Scores (Heart Scan)
uses special x-ray equipment to produce pictures of the coronary arteries to determine if they are blocked or narrowed by the buildup of plaque – an indicator for atherosclerosis or coronary artery disease (CAD).
