Day 2 of Shattuck Sports & Benevolence Program Reaches Many Local Athletes
By David Huslig
Director of Therapy Services, Sports Medicine and Mercy Outreach
On July 9th, the Mercy/EXOS team partnered with the Shattuck Athletic Coaches and athletes for a one day sports camp. There were 53 athletes in attendance who received sports, health and performance instruction from the EXOS team. The focus of the Performance Camp consisted of strength and power movement exercises along with optimal nutritional and hydration strategies.
The last half of the camp involved a question-answer session with the coaching staff. Topics such as reducing the potential of injury, corrective exercises and optimizing nutritional habits for the athletes were all covered to equip the coaches with the latest research and approach for healthy athletes.
The one-day camp provides the Shattuck athletes with an invaluable training experience no matter their sport or position. Athletes will be able to immediately apply the techniques and concepts to become the most explosive and powerful athletes.
